Assessments
The Whole Person™ Manager Assessment: This assessment evaluates 50+ mindsets, behaviors and outcomes critical for effective management. Results are used to create personalized coaching plans, increase self-awareness, and establish a baseline for tracking progress. All responses are confidential and not shared with employers or managers. Includes around 90 questions and takes 9 to 12 minutes to complete.
The Manage 360 feature: This feature provides a powerful multi-rater peer review system designed to uncover untapped potential. It delivers development-focused feedback from direct reports, peers, and leaders, supporting managerial growth. Members can request feedback from up to 25 individuals through the home interface, and the collected feedback is compiled into a detailed 360 report. The report provides an overview of members' skills comparing their self-assessment with the scores coming from their contributors and also rich feedback (open ended reflections) on their strengths, recommendations for improvement to enhance their ability to drive business results and build stronger relationships.
You are encouraged to initiate the 360 Assessment at any point during the Manage program, especially early on to complement the self-assessment. Results will be discussed during your next one-on-one session.
Coaching
In the Manage™ program, you’ll meet with your coach up to five times a year. The first session focuses on debriefing your Whole Person Assessment, followed by sessions to help you progress through your Manage™ plan and journey.
If you wish to change your coach after the first session, please reach out to customer support to match you with your new coach. We recommend you having the same coach as part of your Manage journey as the coach can help review your Whole Person Assessment and depending on your growth areas, the coach will assign you a plan to work on.
Important: Coach rematching with the same coach is not available in the Manage™ experience. If any session is canceled—by either the coach or the member—you will be assigned a new coach. Specifically, if the initial debrief session is canceled or rescheduled, you’ll be redirected to the onboarding process to reschedule all sessions with a new coach.
Sessions
In the BetterUp Manage™ experience, you will meet with your dedicated coach approximately every six weeks, with up to five coaching sessions per year. The first session happens at the end of onboarding and focuses on reviewing Whole Person assessments before creating a personalized coaching plan. The coach then assigns a coaching plan while in the first coaching session or right after the coaching session.
After that, you will schedule each session approximately six weeks apart, ideally at the end of a coaching plan to reflect on progress and align on the next steps. If you complete the assigned plan ahead of schedule, you can message your coach to request an earlier session. Otherwise, you will continue with the pre-scheduled session.
We recommend that you always work with the same coach, ensuring consistency and a deeper coaching relationship. If a session is approaching and the plan is still in progress, members have the option to reschedule or continue with the session as planned. Coaches can also reassign the same plan if additional time is needed. Manage coaches are specifically trained in the Manage framework, ensuring high-quality support tailored to leadership development needs.
Plans
You can complete up to 12 different coaching plans for 12 skills, one skill at a time, depending on your Manage™ plan. For each selected skill, a personalized coaching plan is created. On average, it takes about four weeks to complete each coaching plan.

How many 1:1 coaching sessions can a member have in a year?
Members can have up to five 1:1 coaching sessions per year. The first session is 45 minutes, while subsequent sessions are 30 minutes.
How far apart are 1:1 coaching sessions?
1:1 coaching sessions are scheduled approximately six weeks apart. Members cannot schedule a session within six weeks of their previous session. If needed, they can reschedule or ask their coach to reschedule if no suitable availability is found.
When should a member schedule their next coaching session?
A call-to-action button at the top of the Plans page allows members to schedule their next session. This button remains visible until the session is scheduled. If a member has not scheduled their next session by the time they complete all weeks in the plan, they must schedule a session to start a new plan. Additionally, a drip campaign will remind members to schedule their next session if they do not have one booked.
How many Spotlight Circles will members have access to in a year?
Members have unlimited access to spotlight circles depending on the availability of times.
What privacy measures are in place?
Your privacy is paramount! All customer communications are encrypted using industry-standard encryption technologies. Our servers are regularly assessed to ensure compliance with industry standards and are accredited with several certifications.
We take your confidentiality very seriously and release only limited information to your employer as described fully in our Privacy Policy. Your employer knows our confidentiality policy and that giving you a safe space helps foster real, meaningful growth. While we will share limited personal information with your employer, we do not share specifics of your sessions, meaning they won’t know what skills you’re working on, what you’re sharing with your coach(es), or what kind of progress you’re making. We will only share basic usage statistics with your employer related to whether or not your account is active for billing purposes.
