Launching BetterUp Grow™ is more than sending invites. It's about inspiring your members (coaching participants) to engage, grow, and succeed. A thoughtful communication and engagement strategy builds early momentum and sets the foundation for lasting impact.
Member Readiness begins with developing your communication and engagement approach. When developing your strategy, consider:
- Aligning BetterUp to your business goals
- Answering the "What's in it for me?" (WIIFM) for your members
- Tailoring communications to different audiences: executives, managers, and employees
- Setting clear expectations for member activation and engagement
You don't have to build your approach from scratch. BetterUp has created two resources to help guide your strategy and make it easier to engage your members:
- Our best practices offer insights from successful launches across hundreds of organizations.
- The Member Communications Toolkit provides ready-to-use templates, timelines, and resources to support your communications.
We encourage you to adapt these materials as needed to fit your organization's culture, voice, and brand tone.
Timing Matters
Planning ahead is one of the most effective ways to drive activation and engagement. Giving members the right information at the right time ensures they feel prepared, supported, and motivated to get started. We recommend using the below timeline as you plan your outreach and launch activities complete your Member Readiness:
-
4 weeks before launch: Start building your engagement strategy.
-
2 weeks before launch: Begin member communications and schedule your Launch Day event.
Additional Ways to Build Momentum
To create an even stronger launch experience and drive deeper engagement, we recommend hosting a Launch Day event. Create a personalized, engaging experience by hosting your own internal launch event or by integrating BetterUp onboarding into an existing meeting. To get you started, we’ve created a template deck that includes ready-to-use slides, a sample agenda, and talking points to introduce BetterUp, the value of coaching and help members understand what to expect. The deck also includes best practices for delivering an engaging session.
Hosting a live session builds excitement and gives members a chance to ask questions and get started with confidence. It can be led by a Program Owner, HR leader, Executive Sponsor, or anyone who can confidently introduce BetterUp, tie it to your organization’s goals. The presenter should also help members understand why your company invested in BetterUp and how it connects to your development culture. If you’d like to take it a step further, consider adding a short testimonial from a previous coaching participant to bring the experience to life. For the best results, schedule the session on the same day or just before members receive their invites so they can activate their accounts right away.
While this session is designed for employees invited to BetterUp, consider also inviting their managers to reinforce program value and drive engagement, or hosting a separate session tailored for them.
Recommended Approach:
- Plan a 30 minute session including time for questions and next steps.
- Customize the template to align with your organization’s language and messaging
- Highlight how BetterUp supports individual growth, which is key to driving organizational success, and aligns with your company’s goals, values, and priorities
- Schedule and promote the event early to encourage participation
