What Is BetterUp Ready?
BetterUp Ready™ is your new personal development tool, designed to help you build the mindsets and habits you need to show up as your best self — in work and life. Through coach-led support, interactive tools, and curated resources, BetterUp Ready helps you unlock your strengths, stay grounded, and grow through every stage of your journey.
It’s about building confidence, clarity, and well-being — so you can thrive in your day-to-day, and be ready for anything.

How do I get started with BetterUp Ready?
You will be sent an email invitation from BetterUp with instructions on how to begin your registration.
How much time will it take to use BetterUp Ready?
Your commitment and plan look different based on your starting point, goals, and schedule.
Spend anywhere from 10 minutes a week to an hour a day focusing on your next steps and goals.
- Personal Concierge support – can range from back/forth messages, to a 20 minute session
- 1:1 coaching sessions with a Ready Coach – 30 minutes to be scheduled by you, and based on your availability
- Virtual Studio workshops – 25 minutes
- Self-guided programs and exercises – 1-15 minutes
How much does it cost?
Membership and access to BetterUp Ready is covered by your employer. There is no cost to join and use the platform and coaching.
What privacy measures are in place?
As with any BetterUp experience, with BetterUp Ready, sessions with your Coach are confidential; only you and your Coach can see your individual assessment responses.
Your data security and privacy are a top priority, and BetterUp operates in compliance with international privacy, security, and confidentiality protocols, regulations, and requirements.

Can family members or dependents use BetterUp Ready?
BetterUp Ready is a covered personal development platform from your employer. Please check with your benefits administrator to confirm if family members or dependents are eligible to join and use BetterUp Ready.
What is a Ready Coach?
Ready Coaches are expert professionals trained to help you grow through change, build strong habits, and create a sense of balance and purpose.
They specialize in helping people unlock potential — whether that’s setting goals, establishing new routines, or gaining clarity about what’s next. You’ll work together through video sessions and in-app messaging to stay focused and build momentum.
What can I talk about with my BetterUp Ready coach?
Your Coach will help you discover insights about yourself and learn effective ways to make progress toward the things that matter to you in work and life.

What qualifications do Ready Coaches have?
BetterUp Ready Coaches are internationally certified Coaches who meet the necessary criteria to support your readiness and well-being. Most BetterUp Ready Coaches have advanced degrees in behavioral science or a related field, and many of them hold licenses in their discipline. They do not work in a clinical capacity whatsoever while coaching on BetterUp Ready.
Will Ready Coaches be available in my time zone? In what languages can I receive Ready coaching?
Our coaches are global, meaning we have Coaches available in your region and time zone. We also offer a variety of language options.
What is a Personal Concierge?
A Personal Concierge at BetterUp is a dedicated professional who provides personalized support to individuals navigating the BetterUp platform. They help members access the most relevant tools and resources for their personal and professional growth.
Personal Concierges assist with a variety of needs, such as connecting members to helpful resources, understanding available options, and navigating the BetterUp experience effectively. They are highly trained in providing guidance and support, ensuring members feel empowered and well-equipped to take the next steps in their journey.
Personal Concierges primarily interact with members through in-app messaging, but can also schedule video or call sessions when needed. They work closely with BetterUp Ready Coaches to ensure members receive holistic support tailored to their unique development goals.

What is the difference between Coaching and Counseling or Therapy?
Counseling and/or Therapy tends to focus on resolving past trauma. It includes diagnosis and assessment of mental health disorders, and is an established part of the medical profession, requiring licensure for independent practice.
Coaching tends to focus on the present and future, touching on the past only for context. It focuses on improving functioning and well-being, not diagnosis and symptoms. Coaching is not seen as part of the medical field.

How do I select a Ready Coach and schedule my first session?
- If you did not already select a Ready Coach when you set up your BetterUp Ready account, you can go to your Homepage ( app.betterup.co ) and scroll to the “Coaching” section and select the, “Connect with a Ready Coach”, card to make your coach selection.
- In addition, you can go to the Coaching Tab at the top of your homepage and select the card that says, “Readiness and Resilience Coaching”.
- If you’d like to view another set of Coach profiles during the process, you can select the option to “Find new matches” scrolling to the bottom left of the section where your coach matches coaches are displayed.
What if I don’t like the Coach I’m matched with?
With a 97% match success from over 1 million coaching sessions completed around the world, we’re confident in our ability to connect you with the right Coach.
However, if you feel your Coach isn’t the right fit, you can always request a new Coach - ultimately, we want to ensure you are excited to join your coaching sessions, so we’re here to make sure you can find the right match! Switching your coach is easy to do - instructions on how to do so are below.
How do I change my Ready Coach?
If you have already selected a Ready Coach and decide you want to choose a different coach, go to the “Coaching” tab, and hover over your coach option and select “Switch Coach” .

How do I select a Specialist Coach and schedule my first session?
- If you did not already select a Specialist Coach when you set up your BetterUp Ready account, you can go to your Homepage ( app.betterup.co ) and scroll to the “Coaching” section and select the, “Connect with a Specialist Coach”, card to make your coach selection.
- In addition, you can go to the Coaching Tab at the top of your homepage and scroll to the selection of Specialist Coach offerings and choose one to get started. (Nutrition, Sleep, Working Parent, Well-being Habits, Navigating Grief or Supporting Others Through Grief)
How do I change my Specialist Coach?
If you have already selected a Specialist Coach (Nutrition, Sleep, Working Parent, Well-being Habits or Navigating Grief) and decide you want to choose a different coach, go to the “Coaching” tab, and hover over your coach option and select “Switch Coach” .

How do I join my Ready or Specialist coaching session?
Log in to the BetterUp platform ( app.betterup.co ) a few minutes before your scheduled session. You’ll see a banner above your menu bar with a countdown to your upcoming session and a button to join the session. When you join, you can check your video and audio before starting the session with your Coach.
*Please note: Before joining every other Ready Coaching session, you will receive a brief 5 question check in assessment before starting your next coaching session.
How do I message my Coach?
Once you’ve selected and scheduled a session with your Care Coach, click the “Messages” tab at the top of your homepage and you’ll see your Coach. From there, you can send a message to them at any time.

How do I message my Personal Concierge?
When logged into your BetterUp Ready account, app.betterup.co click the “Messages” tab at the top of your page. From there, you can send a message to your Personal Concierge from the Personal Concierge widget.
The majority of Personal Concierge conversations happen over in-app messaging, although a Personal Concierge may schedule Zoom video or call sessions with you when appropriate or requested.
External Support Services ( ex: Employee Assistance Program)
What is an EAP?
EAP stands for employee assistance program. Your company may offer an EAP program that can include access to therapy sessions at no cost to you as well as other benefits such as legal help, financial help, access to gym memberships, access to wellness/learning stipends, child care/elder care, pet care and more.
Where can I find my EAP information?
Your EAP information can be found on your desktop by scrolling to the top of your BetterUp Ready ( app.betterup.co ) home page and clicking the Help Tab designated with the question mark icon. Here you will click on crisis support. Your EAP information will be in a box on this page.
On your mobile device you can find the same information by going to the message feature, scroll to the bottom and then click on “Contact Crisis Support”.
What if I want to talk to a Personal Concierge about whether my EAP is the best path for me?
Whenever you’re needing some extra support, message a Personal Concierge from the Message Tab—even if you don’t know what your needs are yet! Personal Concierges are trained to help you navigate resources such as your EAP and other forms of external support. The majority of Personal Concierge conversations happen over in-app messaging, although you may schedule Zoom video or call sessions with your Personal Concierge when as needed or requested from the messaging feature. All conversations with a Personal Concierge are confidential.
