Some executive members rely on their Executive Assistants (EAs) to manage scheduling for their coaching sessions (see Understanding Executive Assistant (EA) Scheduling). In addition to scheduling, approved EAs can now message coaches directly, in-platform, to coordinate the same 1:1 session logistics.
This article outlines what to expect as a coach when your member's EA has messaging access.
What This Means for You
If your member's EA is approved for messaging, you'll see a thread in your Messages tab labeled with the assistant's name and "Executive Assistant to [Member Name]" underneath it. You're free to message them directly to confirm a time, flag a conflict, or share your availability, without routing it through your member first.
Coaches are not notified in advance when an EA is granted messaging access. Check your Messages tab to confirm, or reach out to Support if you're unsure.
If you don't see a thread, this doesn't apply to you right now. Your member's EA may not be approved for scheduling/messaging, or provisioning may not have caught up with your match yet. In the meantime, keep coordinating scheduling with your member directly.
What Executive Assistants Can Do (via Messaging)
- Message you to confirm or move a 1:1 session time
- Flag a conflict or last-minute change
- Ask about your availability
- Send scheduling reminders
What Executive Assistants Cannot Do
Messaging access is scoped to logistics only, the same limits that already apply to EA scheduling. EAs cannot:
- Message you about coaching content, progress, or development
- View your coaching notes, assessments, or session history
- Join coaching sessions
- Access any session insights or coaching tools
Messaging doesn't change any of the existing limits on EA access. It simply adds a direct channel for the scheduling work EAs already do.
Replying
Reply from your Messages tab in the platform. That's the only place the thread lives, and the only place your reply will reach the assistant.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will every EA who currently schedules for my member now be able to message me? A: Yes. Messaging access extends automatically to EAs already approved for scheduling. There's no separate approval step.
Q: Can EAs message me about anything other than scheduling? A: No. Messaging is limited to 1:1 session logistics, the same scope as their scheduling access. You should not discuss coaching content or provide access to your session materials.
Q: Is EA messaging available to all members? A: No. Like EA scheduling, this is only available to executive members whose EA has been approved for EA support by their organization.
Q: What about Tripartite Alignment Sessions or Coach-Led 360 interviews? A: Those continue through their existing, off-platform channels. Off-platform processes are currently managed via email/Calendly. This messaging channel doesn't extend to either.
