About the BetterUp 360 Feedback
At BetterUp we know that excellence is a habit that can be developed through learnable behaviors. We conducted an exhaustive review of business and psychological research, identifying a core set of behaviors you can develop to become more effective at work. Great employees thrive cognitively, socially, and emotionally, and motivate, guide, and include others in their roles as formal or informal leaders.
You can use the 360 Review process to gain an understanding of your current strengths and future areas for development by requesting feedback from your colleagues. The 360 Feedback takes about 20 minutes to complete.
Participants of the 360 Feedback will be asked to gather feedback from at least 3 contributors, which can include:
- Your direct manager (may be required depending on your program)
- Coworkers with whom you frequently interact
- Any of your direct reports
Over the past three decades, 360 reviews have become a staple in the coaching and development toolkit of many large organizations. What sets BetterUp’s implementation apart is our developmental emphasis and the integration of our Whole Person Model, ensuring a more holistic approach to feedback.
360 Feedback Methodology
Your 360 review collates feedback on 17 behaviors from your most frequent collaborators. This breakdown includes comparisons between your self-assessment and feedback from your assessment contributors, providing a comprehensive perspective on different perceptions. These perspectives can be discussed with your coach in your coaching sessions to help you find alignment between your self-assessment and the feedback of your contributors.
360 Extensions
After a BetterUp Member initiates a 360 Feedback assessment, the chosen contributors are notified via email to provide their feedback. Contributors who haven't submitted their feedback will receive a follow-up reminder after one week, and then another on the 12th day if their feedback is still pending. Should the required minimum number of contributors not be reached within two weeks, an automatic one-week extension for the 360 assessment is applied. A final reminder will be sent to the contributor 24 hours before the deadline for the assessment.
It's important to note that in order to protect confidentiality, we cannot disclose the response status of individual contributors for the 360 Feedback. However, we can resend the invitation to any contributors who have yet to respond as long as the deadline for responding to the assessment has not passed.
Editing and Adding Contributors
Members will add contributors at the start of the 360 process by adding the contributor's email and the role of the contributor (e.g., direct report, other coworker, or manager). Members may want to add more contributors after the fact, and can do so directly from the Feedback overview tab!
Please note that there is a limit of 25 total contributors who can be requested to provide feedback for the assessment, and all contributors must be added within 2 weeks from the original start date of the feedback assessment.
Members will need the below information when adding contributors:
- The email of the contributor(s)
- The “role” of the contributor(s) (e.g., direct report or other/coworker) of the contributor(s) being added
To add a new contributor, please follow the below steps:

- Select the Feedback overview tab
- Under Status, select the dropdown arrow
