BetterUp video sessions are currently designed to use the camera and microphone selected within your browser's settings. Without the browser permissions enabled, you will be unable to enter the session.
Enabling Browser Permissions
If accessing the BetterUp Video call platform for the first time on your browser (or after updating a browser, or in incognito mode), you must enable video and audio permissions on the browser. To enable browser permissions, follow these steps:
- Once you join a session on the platform, you will see the following page. Click Allow
- Your browser permissions should be enabled
- If your camera or microphone permissions are blocked on your browser, you will see the following page. Click on the link on this page to access the browser-specific instructions.
- Please note that the above page will have the URL that you will need when updating your video permissions.

After you have enabled your browser permissions, you will join the waiting room where you can check if the video and audio are set up correctly. On this page, you can switch your web camera, microphone, or speakers. Additionally, you can adjust your camera and microphone/speakers during the call. You can do this by following these steps:
- Click on the "

"next to the video icon to switch your web camera and the "^
" next to the microphone icon to switch your microphone/speakers. - Simply selecting the preferred device will trigger the change.
Change Camera/Microphone During Session
You can adjust your camera and microphone/speakers in the waiting room or during your call. You can do this by following these steps:
- Click on the "

"next to the video icon to switch your web camera and the "^
" next to the microphone icon to switch your microphone/speakers. - Select from the dropdown your preferred device and this will trigger the change.

Since Google Chrome is our preferred browser, we have included the manual steps to enable browser permissions if you are using Google Chrome on a desktop computer.
- In your Google Chrome address bar, go to https://www.betterup.com/
- Click the lock icon
- Click Site settings
- Click the drop-down menu next to Camera and ensure Allow is selected
Click the drop-down menu next to Microphone and ensure Allow is selected
