Get Immediate Insights From Your Coaching Sessions – Transcribe for Session Insights
Session Insights is a feature that uses AI to help you get more out of every human coaching session. After each qualifying session, you'll receive a personalized summary. For example, the summary may include the themes you explored, strengths you demonstrated, and suggested next steps to carry the work forward. Insights are yours to review at any time from your session history.
This feature requires your opt-in. Session Insights requires transcribing (using AI to make a written record of what was said) to work. Coaching sessions are only transcribed if both you and your coach have opted-in. You can change your preference at any time in your Account Settings, or opt-out of any individual session before it starts. Your transcription choice doesn't affect your access to other BetterUp features.
Session Insights are only available if your organization has enabled AI features for your services. If you don't see these options, your organization may not have these features turned on.
Privacy & Transcriptions for Session Insights

If you have enabled Transcribe for Insights, a transcript will be generated for purposes of deriving Session Insights for you and your Coach. If you opt out, neither will occur. If both you and your Coach have opted in, but one party opts out at the start of the session, the session will not be transcribed.
Opting-in to Transcribe for Session Insights
If your organization has elected AI for your BetterUp services, Transcribe for Session Insights is part of your AI Features. If your coaching is part of a Lead or Ready program, transcription is enabled when you opt in to AI Features. If you already opted in to AI Features before your organization activated Session Insights, transcription is enabled as part of your AI features suite once it becomes available, and you'll be notified. If your company provides you with a BetterUp Manage program, AI Features are integrated in your program.
You are in control of transcription. You can disable transcription in your account settings (see "Account Settings Choice" below), or decline it for a single coaching session before that session starts (see "Individual Session Choice" below).
Account Settings Choice
Members and Coaches can change their transcription preferences at any time. To change your account settings:
- Click your avatar and select Account from the dropdown.
- Under the Personalization section, locate AI Features and enable it to unlock Transcribe for Insights. Note: if you did not already opt-in to AI features during enrollment, you must first enable AI Features in your account settings — Transcribe for Session Insights is nested beneath it.
- Toggle your preferred option or options on or off.
- Click Save changes.
Individual Session Choice
At the beginning of every session, you will be provided with the option to decline transcription for that individual session.
Where to find your Session Insights
Once your coaching session has been completed, an email notification will be sent with a link to access your Session Insights directly within the platform

- Log into BetterUp and navigate to the Schedule tab.
- Navigate to Past sessions at the top of the page.
- Locate the session you would like to view and click View session insights.
Deleting your Transcripts and Session Insights
If you would like to delete previous session transcripts and insights, you may do so by following the steps below. Please note that this is a permanent deletion and the deleted data will not be able to be recovered.
- Log into BetterUp and navigate to the Schedule tab.
- Navigate to Past sessions at the top of the page.
- Locate the session you would like to view and click Delete session data
- Confirm you would like to delete this session. Please note this is a permanent deletion — deleted data cannot be recovered.
