BetterUp Direct is currently offered on a monthly subscription. The "month term" begins the date of purchase. For example, if you sign up on June 15, the month term is June 15 - July 14. The next monthly payment would be on July 15.
BetterUp Plans & Subscription Lengths
BetterUp Direct offers the following plans:
Intro Plan: Includes one 30-minute coaching session a month with your personal coach, or our Extended Network coaches as well as access to our learning library and assessments.
Plus Plan: Includes two - 30-minute coaching sessions a month with your personal coach, or our Extended Network coaches as well as access to our learning library and assessments
Premium Plan: Includes four 30-minute sessions a month with a personal coach, or our Extended Network coaches
*Speciality coaching options include: Presenting with Confidence, High-Stakes Conversations, Diversity & Inclusion Coaching, Career Growth Coaching, Working Parents Coaching, Navigating Uncertainty Coaching, Nutrition Coaching, Communication Effectiveness Coaching
BetterUp Direct offers different plan options at various subscription lengths. Sessions for the subscription plans are all on a monthly basis. Past sessions do not accumulate if missed and future sessions cannot be used in advance. Here are the three different subscription lengths we offer:
Monthly Subscription: Your access to BetterUp Direct Coaching is available on a monthly recurring subscription. Bi-Annual Subscription: Your access to BetterUp Direct Coaching is available on a bi-annual (six-month) recurring subscription. Payment processes on the same date every six months. |
The bi-annual option is not eligible for plan changes after purchase. This option provides you with six months of the services offered in the subscription plan chosen. |
Annual Subscription: Your access to BetterUp Direct Coaching is available on an annual (12-month) recurring subscription. Payment processes on the same date every 12 months. |

Important: Bi-annual and annual plans allow the pre-purchase of multiple months of service in advance. Please note, these subscription lengths are non-refundable and the plan type cannot be downgraded. Changes or purchases of plans are immediate and cannot be reversed.
Updating Your Subscription Plan
Your subscription plan may be changed at any time! Once a new plan is selected, a prorated payment or a prorated credit will be processed.
Changes to subscription plans take effect immediately. We recommend that if you wish to upgrade or downgrade your plan that you do so after you've used your sessions for that billing cycle as all scheduled sessions will be cancelled immediately once you've switched.
- If you change to a plan that is lower in cost than the plan you were originally subscribed to, a prorated credit will be added to your account for a future payment.
- If you change to a plan that is higher in cost than the plan you were originally subscribed to, a prorated payment will process for the remainder of the monthly billing cycle
Here are the steps to update your subscription plan:
- Navigate to your BetterUp account on a web browser
- Click on your avatar on the top right corner of the page
- Click Account

Click Subscription
- This page will show your current subscription and any other subscription options you may select from. Select the new plan.
- You will receive a message about your update before confirming your change.

Pausing Your Subscription
We offer the option of pausing your BetterUp Direct subscription. Pausing your subscription will ensure that your payment will not be processed on the next billing date. Subscriptions will be paused for one month of service (30 days). Subscriptions cannot be changed or resumed within the 30-day pause period. The pause will go into effect at the end of your month of service and prior to payment on your next billing date. Please note that members are not able to message or schedule with their coaches during the pause.
The subscription will resume after one month of service has been paused and payment for your plan will process. Please note that pausing your subscription will prevent access to messaging and scheduling sessions with your coach.
Example scenario: Your billing date is the 5th of each month and you decide that you would like to pause your subscription on December 28. On January 5th, the one-month pause will begin, no payment will process & access to messaging or scheduling with your coach will no longer be available. On February 5th, the subscription will resume and payment for your plan will process.

Canceling Your Subscription
We're sad to see you go! If there is specific feedback you have to share, please contact support so we can gather that from you.
You may cancel at any time through the Subscription page within the Settings of your account. Cancelation is for the next monthly payment and is not retroactive. For example; if your payment date is July 15 and you cancel the account on August 2, the account will automatically cancel after August 14 and a new payment will not be processed for the next month of service.
Refunds are not available for unused time or services. If you cancel after your monthly subscription payment is processed, you may finish the month of service utilizing the available coaching sessions and curated content that matches your profile.
If you would like to cancel, please follow the steps below:
- Navigate to your BetterUp account on a web browser
- Click on your avatar on the top right corner of the page and click Account
- Click Subscription
- Click the three ellipses (...) or Manage and click Cancel
Upon cancellation, the system will ensure your next monthly subscription payment is not processed. You will maintain access to your account and remaining coaching sessions for the duration of the billing cycle. Access to messaging or scheduling with your coach(es) will be removed. Please note that we cannot guarantee the same coach will be available in the future. The platform, saved resources, and assessment results will remain available.
